Fixing of floor ceramics in flats

FLOOR IN “DRY ROOMS”
                                                                                                   
a)
Use the AKRINOL adhesive to fix ceramic tiles, clinker brick, and mosaics onto standard – fine plastered wall surfaces.

In most cases, the substrate is only moistened prior to fixing, but if it is highly or irregularly absorbent, coat it with diluted ACRYL EMULSION (ACRYL EMULSION : water = 1 : 1). Then, apply adhesive mortar with a suitably notched trowel. Lay the tiles close together or insert appropriately thick plastic distancing pieces into joints. Soak very absorbing tiles in water prior to fixing. Subsequently, fill joints between tiles with a joint filler in selected colour shade (no sooner than 24 hours after fixing) and dilatation joints with a suitable permanently elastic crack filler.

to fix a m² of the lining, you will need ~2 to 3 kilos of adhesive AKRINOL , and ~100 g of AKRIL EMULSION in case you need to coat the substrate prior to applying the adhesive

b)
New ceramics can be easily fixed also to old floor ceramic linings if these substrates are well adhered and if they are appropriately treated prior to fixing. In this case as well, apply elastic adhesive AKRINOL ELASTIK.

Firstly, clean old ceramic lining well (primarily, it has to be degreased) and damage its surface as much as possible. Then, coat it with VEZAKRIL. After 24 hours, when the primer is completely dry, spread adhesive compound over it using a suitable notched trowel. Lay the tiles close together or insert appropriately thick plastic distancing pieces into joints. Soak very absorbing tiles in water prior to fixing. Subsequently (no sooner than 24 hours after fixing), fill the joints between tiles with joint filler in a selected colour shade and dilatation joints with suitable permanently elastic crack filler.  

in both cases you will need the following to fix a m² of a lining ~300 ml of VEZAKRILand ~2 to 3 kilos of adhesive AKRINOL ELASTIK.

FLOOR IN "WET ROOMS” (BATHROOMS, SHOWER ROOMS, TOILETS, LAUNDRIES, and similar) 

a)                                                                                                                                             
Prior to fixing of tile lining, apply elastic dampf proofing coat – HIDROZOL ELASTIK onto a cement plaster/render and in case of fixing floor ceramic tiles, clinker brick and mosaics apply elastic adhesive AKRINOL ELASTIK.

Moisten the substrate prior to application of dampf proofing coat. Dampf proofing
compound is applied in two, or, even better, in three coats – the first one using a brush, and the other two using a steel smoothing trowel.

In the second coat, micro-reinforce passages from the horizontal into the vertical and all tubular breaches [with special elastic bands and collars, and micro-reinforce the second coat with a vinyl-covered glass fibre mesh if larger floor surfaces and problematic substrates are concerned.

Ceramics can be fixed 3 to 5 days after the last coat of the dampf proofing
compound has been applied. Apply adhesive using a suitably notched trowel. Lay the tiles close together or insert appropriately thick plastic distancing pieces into joints. Soak very absorbing tiles in water prior to fixing. Subsequently (no sooner than 24 hours after fixing), fill the joints between tiles with a joint filler in a selected colour shade and dilatation joints with a suitable permanently elastic crack filler.                                                                         
                                                                
to process a m²  of floor near tiles, you will need ~2.5 to 4.5 kilos of HIDROZOL ELASTIK (with a suitable quantity of elastic bands and collars; if the dampf proofing coat is micro-reinforced, you will also need ~1.1 m²  of vinyl-covered glass-fibre mesh) and ~2 to 3 kilos of adhesive AKRINOL ELASTIK

Prior to applying new ceramics directly onto old floor ceramic linings (if they are well adhered and properly treated prior to fixing) apply elastic dampf proofing
coat – HIDROZOL ELASTIK onto an old tile lining first. In this case you can also use elastic adhesive AKRINOL ELASTIK for fixing.
