Façade surfaces infected by wall algae and mould
Wall algae and mould are an unpleasant nuisance appearing especially in the autumn and spring time in the form of larger or smaller light greenish or grey stains at first, and then they grow to permanent, widely extended and clearly seen dark grey nests, which are unacceptable as far as appearance is concerned. Subject to infection are, in favourable microclimatic conditions, especially older, less water-repellent mineral, silicate and acrylic renders on shady façade surfaces highly exposed to precipitation (especially if they are applied on quality thermal insulating linings).
First, wash infected surfaces with a jet of hot water or steam. It is recommended to rub the highly infected surfaces with a soft brush while washing them. Coat dry façade surfaces once or twice with diluted ALGICID (ALGICID : water = 1 : 5). Let facade surfaces, which have been disinfected in the above described manner, dry for a day or two and then apply a suitable façade paint protecting the wall against mildew.
To disinfect a m2 of an infected surface, you will need ~50 do 100 ml (or more on very rough surfaces) of ALGICID.
Suitable paints for restoring paint are:
- micro reinforced acrylic façade paint REVITALCOLOR AG (solution A); suitable for all types of decorative renders; it adheres to the substrate only by adhesion, you can select among a wide range of colour shades, it is easy to apply and suitable also for less favourable weather conditions; it is distinguished by high water repellence and resistance to infection with wall algae and mould
- micro reinforced silicone façade paint REVITALCOLOR SILICONE (solution B); suitable for all types of decorative renders; it adheres to the substrate only by adhesion, available in a limited selection of colour shades, it is easy to apply and suitable also for less favourable weather conditions; it is distinguished by high water repellence, which abates very slowly, and resistance to infection with wall algae and mould
Microfibres in both paints successfully prevent cracking of too-thick applications in furrows and holes of relief render surfaces.
Solution A:
Clean the surface off loose particles and cover it with diluted ACRYL EMULSION (ACRYL EMULSION : water = 1 : 1) or diluted JUKOL (JUKOL: water = 1 : 1), then, coat it twice with a selected shade of REVITALCOLOR AG. If necessary, dilute the paint with up to 10% of water.
To paint a m2 of a façade surface, you will need ~100-150 g of AKRIL EMULSION
or ~100-150 ml of JUKOL and ~300 to 700 ml of REVITALCOLOR AG.
Solution B:
Clean the surface off loose particles and cover it with diluted JUBOSIL G (JUBOSIL G : water = 1 : 1) or diluted JUKOL (JUKOL: water = 1 : 1), then, coat it twice with a selected shade of REVITALCOLOR SILICONE. If necessary, dilute the paint with up to 10% of water.
To paint a m2 of a façade surface, you will need ~100-150 ml of JUBOSIL G
or ~100-150 ml of JUKOL and ~300 to 700 ml of REVITALCOLOR SILICONE.
